Christopher Scholl

Director of Mechanical Engineering (PHL)

As the Director of Mechanical Engineering at Philadelphia area office, Chris leads the technical team while maintaining an active hand in ongoing projects.

Chris started as a mechanical engineer working on large-scale radar systems but wanted more impact on the products he was creating. He enrolled in the Stanford Product Design master’s program to gain more expertise in the design process. This led Chris to the medical device industry where he engineered novel implant and instrument systems for treating bone fractures. Synthes promoted him to director, entrusted with expanding its products into adjacent markets like pediatrics, biomaterials and veterinary. Chris’s career spans more than 30 years in product development, most of it at Synthes, the orthopedic company that is now part of Johnson & Johnson. More recently, Chris led a product management team in the metrology industry and worked as a consultant in business development.

Chris holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University along with an M.S.E. in Product Design from Stanford.
