DISCUSS PROJECT
VP, ENGINEERING

David Schoon

As VP, Engineering at Archimedic, David Schoon leads technical operations including engineering, quality, industrial design, and program management.

As VP of Engineering, David is responsible for ensuring the quality of production designs and leading and monitoring the progress of the technical team.

David started his career as a mechanical engineer, initially working on lighter than air aerostat systems, before pivoting to the field of R&D and new product development where he developed various medical systems, scientific instruments, and consumer products.  His early career involved designing and building steerable colonoscopes and laparoscopic mechanisms as well as developing Point-of-Care In Vitro Diagnostics and other pathogen detection systems.  During these early years, David was also responsible for operating CNC machines, which gave him a unique design perspective and appreciation for DFMA.

In 2010, he started working for Archimedic as a mechanical engineer and has since grown into his current role as the VP of Engineering.  During this time, he has continued to hone his technical and multidisciplinary team building skills through the development complex electromechanical and mechanical systems such as laser based therapy devices, anesthesiology products, cancer therapy systems, and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) instruments.

David lives outside of Boston with his wife, 2 children and their chocolate lab.  In his free time, he enjoys playing hockey, mountain biking, hiking, and carpentry work.

David holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
